Research
We analyzed people's every day commutes and leisure travel habits.
9 interviews + 52 survey responses → 3 insights
People regularly search for an escape from everyday life
The monotony of commute contrasts enjoyment during leisurely travel
User satisfaction varies based on how they utilize their commute
Ideation
How might we bring the excitement of travel into our everyday lives?
Feedback from peers and guest reviewers pointed strongly toward a subscription service:
Buy subscription box
Receive same-day email with flight deals to that same destination
User Testing
Hypothesis 1:
The way the box opens adds more excitement to the experience than the shape of the box itself.
Hypothesis 2:
People want the app to plan their entire trip for them.
Box A
Unique shape
Instant gratification
Abrupt opening
Box B
Gift-like
Anticipation
Exciting and fancy
86% of users preferred Box B
We concluded that the way the box opens adds a level of excitement to the experience of opening the box. Though, the shape influences preference and cannot be discounted. Users value a box that is exciting to open, builds suspense, and becomes something to keep.
App
People want to maximize convenience but keep some independence in trip planning. The app flow was “confusing” and needed a lot of reworking.
Some users wanted to see activities BEFORE selecting dates/purchasing flights
Need to see more flight options at once
Choose your own activities
Free navigation and exploration
Rather than offering a general itinerary, we offer the opportunity to book various hotels, restaurants, and activities for the user to choose from to build their travel package. After confirming their flight dates, GO books everything for them and sends their final itinerary back within 48 hours!
Thank you to Vine Packaging for helping us print our final box and making our vision come to life.
